WHOTT DORCHESTER RUNNING DAY Sunday 14th August 2022

Arrangements are now being made to stage this event at the same location, Top o’ Town car park, Dorchester.  Please note that all necessary steps will be taken to comply with Government rules in regard to Covid 19 that may apply on the day.  The latest situation regarding the wearing of face masks is being interpreted as follows:

Face masks MUST be worn when riding on or sitting in vehicles.  Masks may be removed while circulating in the open parking area but MUST be worn when in close proximity to other people.  Our marshals will politely ensure these conditions are met.

This year there may be no timetabled services if fewer vehicles are being operated.  However, those vehicles in operation will provide a circuitous route around the Dorchester area, giving people the chance to ride for about 30 minutes.  Each vehicle will carry hand sanitisers and waste bins.  After each run the vehicles will be ventilated before going out again.

A marquee will provide a covered sales outlet to protect people from the sun.  Here no more than six people will be able to enter at any one time and face masks MUST be worn while inside.  Hand sanitisers and paste bins will be provided.  We will have on offer a larg selection of transport titles, both new and quality second-hand, plus hundreds of photographs and some models.  This could be the first time in many months you will have had the opportunity to rummage and buy that elusive title or photo.

Our representatives will be on hand to answer any questions about WHOTT, invite you to become a Member and provide back issues of our quarterly magazine, WHOTT’s NEWS.

In addition to the running vehicles there will be several more on static display.  This may be the first time these vehicles have been out and about for several months, so the owners will be proud to exhibit and be on hand to speak about them, even if not in service.

We all look forward to making this event a success after a difficult time.  More ambitious plans are in store for 2022, but in the event of further lockdowns it may again have to be a scaled down version of our previous running days.  If any unforeseen circumstances arise, WHOTT reserves the right to cancel at short notice and in this regard cannot be held liable for any inconvenience or financial outlay.  At the beginning of 2022 you will be invited to enter a vehicle either as a static exhibit or in service by downloading an application form.  If you cannot download or print off, please contact us on 01395-567795 for a form sent in the post.
